Why I Chose Lifestyle Newborn Photography - Plymouth, MI

Wide-awake newborns used to scare the CRAP out of me. I thought I HAD to photograph them sleeping. When I was first learning about newborn photography, every image I found was of a perfectly posed baby sleeping in basket, wrapped up like a cute peanut. I thought my clients wanted that. I would spend the majority of our sessions trying to get newborns to sleep. There was so much “shhhhing”. So much rocking. Playing hot potato with the paci. Too much heat (rumor has it newborns like to be warm. They can be so demanding seesh, lol JKKKK)

Now? It doesn’t matter if the baby is sleeping or wide-awake. I’ll photograph them in your arms, in their crib, and every spot in between. Lifestyle newborn photography changed the way I think about newborns. What if the baby is crying? I’ll probably continue to click my shutter so you can remember that moment when mama soothes her newborn during the early days.

For this session, baby Ian was wide-awake the whole time. And I LOVED it. He has such an old soul already. He held his stare for so long. He was super content being loved on by his family all morning.

These photos are just an example of why I chose lifestyle photography. No expectations of that perfectly posed photo. Just your family, doing you. This amazing mama text me later that night and said “this was the most chill photo session ever. We so appreciate that and it shows in the sweet pictures.”
