Newborn sessions are my favorite. They take place in your home. You don’t have to pack everybody up (including that brand new beautiful babe!) and get them out the door. You stay put and I come to you, wherever that may be. Newborn sessions are comfortable, relaxed, and easy. Promise. Check out the adorable newborn film and photos from my latest session. Enjoy! xo, K
Wide-awake newborns used to scare the CRAP out of me. I thought I HAD to photograph them sleeping. When I was first learning about newborn photography, every image I found was of a perfectly posed baby sleeping in basket, wrapped up like a cute peanut. I thought my clients wanted that. I would spend the majority of our sessions trying to get newborns to sleep. There was so much “shhhhing”. So much rocking. Playing hot potato with the paci. Too much heat (rumor has it newborns like to be warm. They can be so demanding seesh, lol JKKKK)
Now? It doesn’t matter if the baby is sleeping or wide-awake. I’ll photograph them in your arms, in their crib, and every spot in between. Lifestyle newborn photography changed the way I think about newborns. What if the baby is crying? I’ll probably continue to click my shutter so you can remember that moment when mama soothes her newborn during the early days.
For this session, baby Ian was wide-awake the whole time. And I LOVED it. He has such an old soul already. He held his stare for so long. He was super content being loved on by his family all morning.
These photos are just an example of why I chose lifestyle photography. No expectations of that perfectly posed photo. Just your family, doing you. This amazing mama text me later that night and said “this was the most chill photo session ever. We so appreciate that and it shows in the sweet pictures.”
When was the last time you printed photographs? I’m guilty of it too. We are all busy and I totally understand. But photos aren’t meant to get lost on a hard-drive. Photos shouldn’t be published to Facebook and never looked at again. Photos are meant to be printed, adored, and passed down from generation to generation. When I started Karra Lynn Photography, I wanted to preserve moments. In 2019, all my families will receive a classic 10x8 photo album to keep those moments safe for a lifetime.
Truth be told, I went back and forth on what product I wanted to provide to my families. I wanted something easy for my families. Something they didn’t have to stress over. Something that showed up at their doorstep with no work required on their end. No framing or pounding nails into walls only to realize you measured incorrectly. Something simple. I am so happy I ended up with the photo album. It is gorgeous. With a linen cover and lay-flat matte spreads, this album is everything. Imagine this beaut sitting on your coffee table. The best part of the album? I’ll design it for you. Easy peasy, no stress. Pick your cover color and I’ll do the rest.
I hear this all the time: “what should we wear for our photo session?” Clothing can be a stressful part of the photography session process (and it shouldn’t be!) I always give my families the same wardrobe tips - start with moms outfit, don’t be too matchy matchy, and add layers & texture for interest. But sometimes (like me) you’re visual learner.
When I learned about Honeytree Style & Select, I knew I needed it for my clients. I needed something to help my families put together a wardrobe fast, without breaking the bank, and without going to a million stores at the mall. Style & Select offers all of that. Check out my video below where I style a family of 5 in 5 minutes. 5 MINUTES! Ok. maybe six minutes.
