I start off every photo session like this .. “hey guys, we’re going to do a few photos of everyone looking at the camera and then you’re not going to look at me again.” Throughout the session I am always reminding someone, “hey, can you look at your dad?” or “mom, look at your husband.” We are programmed to smile and look at the camera and it’s my job to stop that for an hour.
Yes, I try to capture that “Christmas Card” photo. It is usually the photo that grandma wants printed. But it is not my main goal. I go into every session hoping to capture you being you. Being silly, or happy, loving on each other, or whatever your family unit is showing me. Each family is unique and that is what makes this job fun.
